Star Hal Holbrook started performing as Mark Twain back in the 50's across the United States culumating in '66 when he premiered as Twain on Broadway running for 174 performances as well as earning Holbrook the Tony award for Best Actor. As a result the following year CBS commisioned a filmed live perfomrance that ran on the network and earning Holbrook an Emmy nonimation for his work.
