When Bea Arthur decided her character of Dorothy had run it's course on The Golden Girls the rest of the girls didn't think so and came back together the following year for "The Golden Palace". Many things changed including the girls moving and running an upscale hotel as well as the real life change of moving from NBC to CBS. However things didn't fly and The Golden Palace was cancelled after one year despite it being announced that it had been picked up for a second season only to be canned at the last minute.
There's two oddities in this show. Sophia was certainly a handful so it seem unsusal that the girls would decide to be rsponsible for her instead of her actual daughter.
However that's not the most unique thing - when The Golden Palace was cancelled Sophia moved AGAIN - this time she moved in with her old neighbor from the old show and become a cast member on Happy Nest starring Richard Mulligan (SOAP).
I won't like - after I submit this post, despite Estelle Getty dying back in 20008 part of me is concerned that I'll go to the closet and see Sophia pop out telling me she's moving into my home.
