With Brian slated to be cruxified under the hot sun, Eric Idle was the character who started singing 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.' Eric Idle is one of the greatest commedians in the world. In a 2005 poll Idle was voted 21st of the top 50 greatest comdedy acts ever by comedians and comedy insiders. Eric Idle was commissioned by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra to write an oratorio with his cohort John Du Prez for a new work based on Monty Python's Life of Brian.
