This was even better that his animation work on MPFC because it was totally focused Gilliam original material, same twisted sense of humor, different format. From The2006 Los Angeles Improv Comedy Festival the followin 12 minutes features a bevy of laughs from the great Simpsons comedic actor Harry Shearer with introduction by Monty Pyton legend Eric Idle as Shearer is awarded that years Del Close Award.

Secret Life of Brian (Monty Python Doc')

A full length (50 mins) doc about Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979) starring Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin. Eric Idle is apprently missing from this doc for some reason.











Channel 4: Monty Python's seminal comedy Life of Brian, made in 1979, is one of the most controversial films ever produced. This Channel 4 documentary examines how the movie caused a global furore amongst religious groups, who saw it as blasphemous, disgusting and 'made in hell'.

The Pythons reflect on the concept and making of the film and discuss the obstacles they had to overcome. EMI withdrew funding, local councils in Britain banned cinemas from showing the film and Mary Whitehouse lobbied the British Board of Film Censors to refuse the film a certificate.

Youtube: John Cleese does a party political broadcast on the subject of extremism for the British centre-ist party (or parties), the SDP/Liberal Alliance. A very convincing and funny piece of propaganda it is, makes you want to vote for them. Just a shame you'll never get the chance, The Alliance got annihalated in the '87 election and had split up and disbanded within a year. Still, it's not all tears, A Fish Called Wanda was soon to do great box.

But he’s also made a name for himself as an explorer and adventurer, documenting his travels in a series of books and TV series, including Around The World in 80 Days, Pole to Pole, Full Circle, Hemingway Adventure and Sahara. I’m wondering how to get this peripatetic wanderer to stay in one place for several months, and what his survival kit would have to contain to keep him from going stir crazy.

CBC.ca: If you don't know Eric Idle you may remember in the final scene of 'Monty Pyton's Life of Brian.' With Brian slated to be cruxified under the hot sun, Eric Idle was the character who started singing 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.' Eric Idle is one of the greatest commedians in the world. In a 2005 poll Idle was voted 21st of the top 50 greatest comdedy acts ever by comedians and comedy insiders. Eric Idle was commissioned by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra to write an oratorio with his cohort John Du Prez for a new work based on Monty Python's Life of Brian. It's called Not The Messiah (He's A Very Naughty Boy) and it will be conducted by Idle's cousin, Peter Oundjian. (He is also currently working on a CD he and John Du Prez have written for Sara Ramirez.)
