According to Variety ABC has passed on the new comedy vehicle from Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz and his AD partner in comedy crime Richard Day.
"The Thick of It" is based on the BBC series that would have starred Christopher Guest, Rhea Deehorn, Oliver Platt and Michael McKean among others with the pilot directed by the great Christopher Guest (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, For Your Consideration).
Thankfully HBO, Showtime and NBC (who oddly enough had no new comedies on their 2007-08 fall schedule for the first time in 40 years) have shown interest. I'm baffled why it would even get to such a point for a program with such a comedic pedigree however lets hope somebody comes through and picks up the program.
