Shandling's discusses, among other things, his book "Confessions of a Late Night Talk Show Host" written as Larry Sanders. He first wanted to call it "Diary of an Asshole: The Larry Sanders Story" but the publishers nixed the idea saying bookstores wouldn't carry anything with profanity in the title.

Garry Shandling: Stand Up

From 1991 comes the excellent Garry Shandling: Stand Up comedy special filmed in Los Angeles and aired on the Showtime cable channel and as well as released on VHS by Polygram. It's a bevy of comedic fun with a pre-Larry Sanders Shandling that I've enjoyed since I saw it for the first time on pay tv, and then later, buying the official release. The VHS is looong OOP but there's a few copies floating around Amazon Marketplace starting at around $40 that you can check out by clicking here. No word on a DVD release and it's been quite awhile so I'm wondering if it's fallen through the cracks of time.

Fresh Air from WHYY, November 28, 2002 · He starred in HBO's parody of talk-shows, The Larry Sanders Show. It featured Shandling as a veteran talk-show host. His guests included Robin Williams, Howard Stern, and, actual talk show host, David Letterman playing themselves. The show went off the air in 1998, but reruns of the show are currently airing on the network Bravo. Shandling also starred in It's Garry Shandling's Show. Shandling also appears in the new Seinfeld documentary, Comedian,which shows in theaters now. (REBROADCAST FROM 10/1/93)
